Bonjour,
Question à MPP - Perry Coke :
Dear Mr. Cocke,
I would like to ask for a rules clarification regarding a specific situation in the Prep Fire Phase of Advanced Squad Leader, for which I could not find a clear answer in the Rulebook or Q&A documents.
Here is the situation:
I have four squads, each in a separate but adjacent hex, all of the same nationality.
Each squad possesses a Light Machine Gun (LMG).
All squads are in Good Order and eligible to fire.
During the same Prep Fire Phase, I would like to:
Form a Fire Group (FG) with the inherent FP of the four squads, firing at Target A.
Simultaneously, form a second Fire Group with the four LMGs, firing together at a different Target B.
In other words:
Each squad is using two weapons in the same phase: its inherent FP and its SW (LMG), which is normally allowed according to A7.351.
The inherent FPs are grouped into a valid FG and attack a single Location.
The LMGs are also grouped into a separate FG and fire at another Location.
There is no rules conflict in terms of stacking, no duplication of fire, and each FG respects the one-target rule (A7.55).
I understand that restrictions about using multiple weapons apply more strictly in Defensive Fire Phases, but I see no explicit prohibition of this setup in the Prep Fire Phase rules.
Is this kind of action legal under official ASL rules?
Thank you very much for your time and clarification.
Sincerely,
ExA
