First, sorry for my english. I'm not very good in your language, but I will try to explain my opinion (and I try to not use translator to improve my english).
I usualy write AAR when I finish a game. Sometimes, I have few returns, sometines not. But it's not so important for me because I have pleasure to write my adventures.
I know that is not the same thing between write an AAR and write an analysis article or some advices for players. The second ask more reflexion and, probably, more time than a fictionnal story about wargame. But I think writing about our passion for ourself is the first step, and maybe the more important, when we decide to write and to share our production.
My humble opinion.
Your English is better than my French. I write for a couple of reasons:
1) I find the topic interesting
2) I am trying to reinforce my own learning or understanding
3) I am trying to improve my game by better understanding a topic or idea
4) I am trying to share my growth and understanding
5) I am trying to help others
For the first three, I am mostly looking inward. But even then, I am trying to share my thoughts in hope it helps others and to provoke discussion. Writing for me reinforces what I am learning. It is also said, if you really want to learn something, try teaching it. So I tried to combine both writing and teaching to drive the lessons home.
But by failing to gain engagement, I have no motivation to try and teach. As far as I know, I am teaching to an empty room. So I stopped. I still write. I still explore. I am still inquisitive. I still do all the things I used to do for my own learning. I just don't share everything anymore.
Now, if there is someone you read or some article you like, I encourage you to reach out to the author and let them know. It's what I do. I know it helps to keep them motivated.
