L'état des lieux en cette veille de Noël...

Charlie Kibler Now Under Contract with MMP
************************************************** **********************
**************************************
As we mentioned last month, MMP has been undergoing some growing pains.
We contracted with an outside group to produce ASL projects and clear
the logjam created by the very fact that running the MMP business side
was eating into our ASL layout time.

Recently, a minor crisis in our warehouse storage - namely that we're
going to have to change warehouses because the lease of our current
provider has expired with the property owner - made this issue hit home
in a big way.

So we are happy to announce that in addition to our existing contract
for layout production we have added the talents of Charlie Kibler,
veteran Avalon Hill and ASL designer, to our layout and production
stable. Charlie, who designed the classic ASL historical module Red
Barricades, will work on ASL project exclusively, while our other
production group will begin tackling some of the outstanding non-series
work like Sifting Sands.

Charlie's going to work on a project-by-project basis, and in our
discussions we laid out at least a year's worth of work. First up will
be finishing AOO counters and the finishing work on the rules, scenarios
(ie., plugging in the soon to be finished artwork into those items).
After that, he'll tackle a slew of projects stuck in the pipeline --
Valor of the Guards, Hakkaa Päälle, Ortona, Red October, Rotterdam,
Warsaw, Action Packs #3 and #4, and a slew of other products.

Welcome aboard, Charlie!

ASL Starter Kit 2 Now on Preorder
************************************************** **********************
**************************************

Retail Price: $28.00 each
Preorders needed: 1,000

ASL Starter Kit #2, the follow-up to our fantastically successful ASL
Starter Kit #1, features the ordnance and light anti-tank weaponry of
the Advanced Squad Leader series. ASL Starter Kit #2 contains the
refined rulebook from ASL Starter Kit #1 with new rules added and old
rules clearly marked so that no rereading is required!

ASL Starter Kit #2 is a complete game -- everything you need to play the
scenarios in the game is in the box! ASL Starter Kit #1 is not required
to play ASL Starter Kit #2, although players may wish to own the maps
and scenarios from that module.

MMP has not made a decision as to whether this game requires a P# to be
hit prior to publication. For now the P# has been set to 1000, but we
reserve the right to change our minds and consider the entire ASL
Starter Kit line to be core modules and thus not under the requirements
of P#.

Contents:
1 counter sheet of 1/2" counters;
1/2 counter sheet of 5/8" counters
2 8"x22" geomorphic mapboards (w & x);
8 scenarios featuring Americans, British, Germans, and Italians;
1 full-color rules booklet
2 player-aid reference cards

You can see samples of the maps here:

Our newest preorder offering is based on a battle in late May 1864.
Grant slides around Lee's flank at Spotsylvania and triggers a race to
the North Anna. As fighting erupts on both sides of the river, Lee sets
a trap based on a brilliant "inverted V" position which forces Grant to
divide his army. Once the trap is sprung, Lee plans to defeat part of
Grant's army in detail by striking an offensive blow. The stakes are
high and the opposing armies will never again be so evenly matched.

Contents:
2 counter sheet of 560 counter sheet
2 full (22"x34") map sheets

STAB specific rulebook
